Extra-Ordinary Business Leaders

A gentleman came to my home a few weeks ago to do some repairs.  The repairs should have been very simple, and, of course, assumed only the best. �Inspect what you expect!� a little voice said to me.  �Inspect what you expect!� was repeated.

Well, what started out to be a very simple job turned into something that took much longer than anticipated, which wasn�t too bad.  However, when I looked at the quality of what I received, I don�t think I could have been more disappointed.  I thought to myself that the type of work I received typifies what is in the marketplace, today.

On the other hand, I called AT&T; for service on my internet services.  Having had to put up with them for the past few years, I�d been privy to their �customer service� practices.  I would call them whenever I was feeling like I wanted to be treated badly for a while, or to demonstrate to clients how not to do business.

Well, on this occasion, and the occasions since, the service was outstanding.  I was rather disappointed because I�d spent some time putting together some clever arguments and rebuttals to their insensitivity to my needs.  Well, it turned out that they sent a tech to my home for free � twice, and responded quickly and knowledgeably each time I called.  I was flabbergasted.  My experience was extra-ordinary.

So what happens when you clients are in need of your services?  Do you put them on hold for hours? Days?  Weeks?  Do you find that you are communicating effectively and regularly enough?  Are you aware of how your business is perceived?
