Restructuring Your Company’s Management Into 21st Century Leadership

“The age of management is dead!” says Jeffrey Hayzlett, a VIP contributor for Entrepreneur Magazine.  He follows with this statement: “Executives are no longer looking to micromanage everyday decisions; instead, they’re empowering other employers to implement and own the decisions that will propel the business forward.”  I agree with Hayzlett. Executives who focus on leading their teams rather than using an old school management style tend to keep up with the ever-changing business landscape to maintain high standards of performance.

According to Hayzlett, there are three advantages to creating a decentralized leadership structure:

  • It empowers employees to make high-level decisions
  • The business can make decisions more quickly
  • It helps develop employees

Hayzlett also describes five ways the new management model surpasses the old and closes his article by saying, “Goals need to be clearly defined, and employees empowered to make decisions and pull out all the stops to remain competitive and elevate their leadership skills as we move further into the 21st century.”   To read his article in full, click here.
