As a Business Grows, How Does the Role of the Entrepreneur Change?
The role of the entrepreneur changes within a successful business in 3 distinct ways
There is a common myth that leaders must be extroverted in order to be successful. Not only is that inaccurate, it’s not even realistic. If that were true, introverts like Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates, Marissa Mayer, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg would never have developed the amazing companies they have today.
Leadership at its essence is the ability to inspire and motivate a group of people to achieve a common goal. Every personality type is capable of doing that in their own unique way by leveraging their strengths and surrounding themselves with the right talented people to manage the things they aren’t naturally good at.
Zachary Crockett’s article on The Hustle (a tech and business news website) provides a fantastic overview of why introverts make great leaders. He spoke with more than a dozen successful introvert founders and read through three decades’ worth of leadership studies to explain why. You can read his article here.
I’ve been coaching all kinds of personalities for a decade and I have found his information to be accurate. No one is pure extrovert or introvert, and Crockett makes a great case for why introverts can – and should – be selected for leadership roles; and supporting them to create the right team to ensure success.

What makes an entrepreneur different than his or her employee counterparts? An entrepreneur approaches his or her life and work with a unique mindset.
Dynamic management is fundamentally different than any of the old corporate management systems you have known. Because the old systems are so entrenched, there will be resistance, but push through. You will be rewarded with a better system and more sustainable operations if you do.
