Business Development Strategy: A High-Growth Approach

business development
You hear them everywhere, acronyms and job titles that make you wonder what they’re talking about and what they do. When janitors are called Custodial Engineers, business meetings are filled with jumbles of letters you aren’t quite sure how to decipher, and sales, marketing and business development no longer mean what they did twenty years ago, it gets to be too much.
Just stop, help is here. The following article by Lee Frederikson, PhD takes us step by step through each of the key parts of business development practices, explains the new definitions for old terminology, and helps us grasp how each of these pieces fits into the picture that makes up a successful business. Sometimes it helps to just forget what we know for a moment and absorb the basics again with a fresh eye. When you’re running your business, you can become so close to the minutiae that you begin to become like the blind men in the parable ‘The Blind Men and the Elephant.’ None had ever been around an elephant, so each touched a different part – tusk, trunk, skin, legs, and then described what the elephant looked like and how it functioned according to their own knowledge. They were all wrong, because they only had their own incomplete understanding to draw from and did not share their collective knowledge. Utilizing others’ experience, understanding and views makes you wiser than simply standing upon your own education and experience.
This article takes it all down to the nitty-gritty and then puts it together in a pure, logical manner that clarifies business strategy and development. You see the entire process and how it functions with ease.
Don’t stand too close to the elephant, there’s a lot more to see!
