Who's got Your Back?

Have you ever walked into a room and felt like it was going to simply swallow you? As extraordinary business leaders, we can bank on the fact that we are constantly seeking bluer, uncharted waters. I suspect, though, that we aren’t designed to go at it alone.

If you take a look at successful leaders, you’ll notice that they surround themselves with great people, to whom they often credit with being essential to their success. That person could be a business partner, a mentor, a friend or a spouse (not necessarily in that order!). The important thing is to have someone there who you know has “got your back.”Who's got your back?

Now, there is a quality issue, here: there is no point in surrounding yourself with terrible people: those who will just say, “yes” to everything you say, those who will suggest that you just give up, etc., etc.  Many people don’t need others to give them the bad news.  Great people are going to help you see what you don’t see and help you to get the energy you need to keep moving.  If you are going to be an extraordinary leader and run an extraordinary company, you’ve got to keep moving.
